Mark Abramson, the head designer of Urban EcoScapes, is a highly respected professional environmentalist in the Los Angeles area. I’ve known Mark since 1996 when he first joined the Malibu Creek Watershed Advisory Board (MCWAB). As Heal the Bay’s “Captain of the Stream Team,” which he created he assessed the conditions of 72 miles of streams in the 110 square mile watershed. He worked for almost ALL the environmental stakeholders in the MCWAB, in one capacity or another. One of his hallmark projects was restoring the Malibu Lagoon, which neighbor’s world famous Malibu Surfrider Beach, and which was known as “Polio Pond” before it became a thriving wildlife habitat with many species retuning that have not been seen in decades. In 2014, he was honored by the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) in Washington, DC for his Conservation & Restoration efforts in Los Angeles County. Furthermore, he has my deepest gratitude as one of the first professional surfers in the sport, from Malibu.
